I'm planning a trip to the south shore of Lake Ontario entering US from Canada. I'm wondering about whether I need to be concerned about how much beer/wine/spirits I can have on-board and bring with me. Any suggestions/comments welcomed.
And I guess that any amount that seems reasonable for personal consumption should be allowed. If it looks like you are smuggling Canadian Whiskey in to re-sell by the case then I would expect trouble. If you are planning on bringing cases of Brador's as gifts you might try stowing them so they are not visible. I checked in thru customs in the Turks & Caicos and the Customs/Immigration guy came right on to the boat as we were having a celebratory rum drink. He was much more concerned about guns. Checking into the US you might be required to have a firearm!
give the US Customs and Border Patrol in Rochester, NY a call - they deal with it all the time, I'm sure. I asked them when I had questions about a race across lake ontario to canada and back.585 263-6293
