no longer made

You may already know this, but I mention it anyway. Check out the web site for info. It is quite extensive & they have a "for sale" sectionn If you are trying to get an engine for parts it might be worth while. Never used much in North America I think. If you are repowering getting an outboard is cheaper & you will be able to get parts & service for a long time. I've helped a friend w/ his in a 25 & it's a nice little engine & pushes the boat nicely. It's a fairly simple engine, but access is always a problem.

I had a Virus 7...

...in my old C&C 25 MkI. I had some problems with it, so I bought someone elses failed rebuild and used the parts to rebuild mine. Took me all of about four hours which included lapping the machined surfaces. As was previously stated, these are no longer produced. They were never actually manufactured by Westerbeke, but were manufactured in Denmark by Valmet. If you ever had a problem with them and called Westerbeke they wouldn't want to know you. They are indeed simple engines to work on. One mod that I made was replacing the conventional ignition system with electronic ignition. The conversion kit can be purchased at any lawn equipment supplier. Cheers, Bob
