Engine Zinc replacement

I have a Yanmar 2gm20f on a 91 Hunter 30T which I purchased last April in Tampa Bay (salt water). I transported the boat to a fresh water lake in TX. The question is when should change out the zinc plugs in the engine? I was looking through my engine manual and zinc plugs was talked about. Thanks Jim Wharton

Shouldn't need to

The model number contains an 'F'. This indicates that the motor is fresh water cooled. To my knowledge, fresh water cooled engines don't have the zincs referred to in the manual. These pertain to raw water cooled engines. I think you'll find plugs where the zincs would be.

No Zincs

Jim.... I had the same engine on an O'Day 322 and there are no zincs even though the manual refers to them. I've found the manufacturers to be little lax in keeping up with changes on their engines - applies to boats as well. Anyway gives us something to write about...Bruce
