My Engine (2GM20F) was working fine before I decided to change both the primary (Racor) and secondary filters (1st time since I got the boat 2 years ago). Now it won’t even start. After changing both filters I bleed the system from the secondary filter using a bulb attached just before the racor filter, then I started the engine and ran it for an hour with no problem. Next day when I tried starting the engine, it would run for about 10 second then shut off. I checked the system and noticed the racor water separator bowl was almost empty. I realize the water separator valve was leaking so I replaced the whole racor water separator unit. Now I have no leak. I bleed the system again from the secondary filter and I tried bleeding it from the top of the injector, but no fuel came out and the engine would not start. Can someone tell me what’s wrong?

You may also have to bleed the fuel at the high pressure pump. Instructions below. Fuel has to be pulsing out of the tubes at the injectors for the engine to run.

Sounds good Paul, I'll try it tomorrow.

Thank you

Bleeding the system would be much easier if you go to autoparts and buy and electric fuel pump (suitable for diesel) and put it between you primary and secondary filters. When you bleed the system hook the pump up to one of your batteries and proceed to bleed the system. When you are done just leave the pump inline (but always turned off). Your engine will run just fine with the pump inline.

Well Folks, I have great news. The engine is back online. Since there was no fuel at the injector bleed screw, I went back towards the line from the secondary fuel pump were it enters the injector pump (there is a bleed screw there), and I bleed it there (there was a lot of air in that line). Now I can get out on the sound and have some fun. Thank you all for your recomendations and suggestions.
