Has anyone considered upgrading the engine to a 300hp V-8? I am interested to add ballast and create large wakes at about 18 mph for wakeboarding as well as to pump out the water ballast and pull water skiers at 26 mph. Is that un realistic? I am not an owner but I see the 25 ft motor sailors used in my area from time to time for much less than a 20ft wake board boat, and I think that the 25ft motor sailor could displace a large amount of water and create a large wake. Any thoughts?

Brother Billy Bob
I don't know noting about wake boardin' but my brother Billy Bob knew a guy that put a 200 hp merc on a 26m and towed a fuel bladder for long distance hauls. He navigated out of key west and could make it to Cuba running flat out in a little over 2 hours. Longest trip he ever took by motor running all the way was to san juan. there was a little island off the coast of Fajardo named Ickakos that he liked to hang out at. Everybody thought it was a little stange with that big motor on that little trailer sailer but then he didn't know how to sail much anyway so he didn't care much about that. Anybody been to Foxie's at Jost Van Dyke? This ol'boy made a run over there once too. You can make it in a day from San Juan with the 200 merc. Seems like foxie's wife was an english gal that stopped by one day and married Foxie to have a place to stay in the Virgins - Islands that is. Nobody ever knew where exactly she was from. On the trip back he threw his water pump out and had to sail most of the way. Seems he drifted off course and never exactly made it back. Never heard from that ol'boy again. But he had the runninest rig while it lasted.

200 HP is plenty for this project. I wonder why Billy Bob he was in such a hurry? I will post some pics of this wake monster when I start construction of a re inforced transom and ballast system. I may reduce the draft as well by cut the keel down to about 1 ft deel as we dont plan on sailing but we will test it first with the factory keel, sailing may be cool if we take it to Seattle. Did BillyBob instal a hydraulic steering or did he stand in the back surfing that 200 hp outboard?

Bull Rider
Jeff, I'm not the man - he was a good-ole-boy I knew awhile back bforin he disappeared on us down the carribbean way. They call me bull rider for short. This here storm that just hit us in Biloxi it came on all a sudden like. Well seeing how I ride them bulls in the pasture I tried to ride out this storm in my Mac 26. Figured it'd stand a better chance out to sea than tied up at the dock or on the trailer. The day before the storm hit I put out to sea - went way out and threw the hurricanne anchor overboard made fast to the stern mooring cleat. The hurricane anchor is a bucket on a rope and chain to provide this bucking bull some direction. Well I left the mast down and the ballast full and just let the storm blow. Them 35 foot waves made the whole boat a wake board to say the least. Well would have run ashore exceptin the hurricane anchor line snagged on somethin and kept me in the deep. I had everything shut up like the companionway locked shut tight so no water could swamp us. Never the less the bilge pump ran wide open the whole time as each succesive wave kept breakin over us and water was a seepin inside. Well I tied my self to the life line stanchions on both port and starboard sides to keep me in the middle of the boat. I'm typing this via satellite linkup now. It's finally calm'd down a bit out here and judgin' by the news the boats that stayed put in the docks took it pretty hard. Well if you're wondering what the anchor line snagged it was the roof top of a sunken beach house off of Daulphin Island covered by storm surge that will most likely never see the light of day again.
