Engine throttle

I have a 5411 diesel in my Catalina 27, my throttle seems to have to much play. It doesn't feel like I'm getting full throttle anymore. I'm getting ready to adjust it in the next few weeks and I was wondering if there are any special tricks I need to know? Or which end is the best place to start (engine or throttle knob, etc.) Thank you John Mesa

Throttle adjust

John; Start at the engine end. Have someone move the throttle through it's travel and watch the fuel rack on the engine to see if it goes to the stops. Adjust as needed and use a spray lube sprayed into the cable case at both ends.

Throttle

My throttle cable was held in place in the quarter berth before heading down to the engine. The cable came loose here and i couldn't get full throttle. Have a quick peek if your setup is similar.
