A while back I lost my inboard engine due to overheating. Sailing back to the slip was done without incident. I removed the engine-that is a story by itself. I finally found a company to rebuild it and shipped it off. Yesterday I got it back. The crate had a tire mark on it and was wrapped in shrink rap. I did not think to much of it. I opened up the crate to find that they must have dropped the crate on its side. The engine was no linger screwed to the wood blocks but rattling around in the crate. The exhaust manifold mounting studs were broke off or bent. I called Estes Trucking , got the run around for about 15 minutes and finally got to talk to someone who said they would e-mail the claim forms, but advised me that the claim would me denied. I got the e-mail with no form attached. Lesson learned Insure all shipments of significant value. Looks like a battle with Estes Trucking is about to start. In the mean time I will continue to repair the damage and re-assemble the engine and install. I will be on a two month RV trip in ten days so may not get the boat wet until late September or October. Also, I have some other up-grades in work.
