Perhaps clarity. Engine replacement... can mean

• I want a brand new engine installed - shop the various suppliers, BETA has folks in the Bay Area
• I want a rebuild of my current engine - search for a mechanic or a DIY job
• I am afraid my engine is dead or dying. Is there a Mechanic in the house
• I want the same engine I have only bright and shiny... A Westerbeke or a Universal.

Thanks jssailem for chiming in. Your response is about as helpful as o'l kappy's was. As you don't even live in the SF bay area why would you even bother. I am sure that a lot of good information can be garnered from this form, and it has hepled my in the past but to those who just feel the need to type somthing useless please don"t
Let me try again......Does anyone located in the SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA have experience with or knowledge of reutable mobile marine diesel engine mechanics located in the SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA. My boat is located in Alameda CA. which is located in the SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA. I thank all who wish to help but am interested in mechanics only located in the SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA. Do you have a preferred engine for your repower, a Beta, Nanni, Yanmar, etc.? If so the local dealers will have people they work with or will be able to refer you to an independent contractor.
