1978 Catalina 27/ Atomic 4: During engine operation, I will hear a loud click coming from the vicinity of the fuse box, which is also next to the access door for the engine. The engine will stall for a brief second and then resume normal operation. The boatyard thought it is related to compression, so they checked the compression and found it to be o.k. THe fuses never blow when this occurs. Does anyone out there experience a similar situation or have a cure for this? Thanks.

Engine problem

Todd--I'm guessing here, but could it be some type of temporary short circuit in the ignition system? Is the click mechanical in nature or more of an electrical "pop"? Good luck to you.

Electric arc

Sounds like an intermittant short arcing somewhere in there. Look over all the wiring, even better whach the area with the engine running.
