Engine Panel Re-wire

I’m installing a Universal 5432 diesel into my 37-C, as the boat came without an engine. The Universal came with a Catalina engine panel, which I would like to re-wire. Unfortunately, the wiring diagram in the Universal’s Owner’s Manual doesn’t quite match the actual wiring of the panel, i.e. colors and wire gauges don’t always match up. For instance, the manual’s tan wire is 16ga, the actual tan is 10ga, and the manual’s grey 10ga is the actual white 10ga.

Anyway, my basic question is – does it matter if I replace the 14ga and 16ga wires with 10ga? In other words, I want to match the actual wire colors, but use all 10ga wire.

Thanks!

Not an issue. Bigger is better for those wires anyway. Just make your own wiring diagram.

Great, just what I was hoping! I'm going to try to re-wire based on MaineSail's post about engine harness re-wiring, if I can ever figure it out!

Thanks, Stu!
