Engine Mounts - P36-2 / 3HM35F

Getting ready to change the mounts on my engine as they are original (20-years) and are covered in rust. I am sure they are not so good. Has anybody done this project on thier P36-2 and know what size mounts to get. I was hoping to order the mounts and remove / replace one at a time. I tried to see the size numbers on them, however could not see the sides clearly...not enough room. I understand that there are two different sized mounts.Thanks!Greg

Engine model number and serial

number and some pictures of the mounts will probably get you what you need. failing that removing one and taking it with you when you go shoping with work.

Engine Mounts

Greg,The mounts on the front are differant from the rear mounts. Any Yanmar dealer will have the proper numbers for the HM35F. They will run about $125 +/_ each,so be prepared.You can change each mount one at a time and get close to the alignment by losening the adjusting nuts and then remove the mount bracket from the engine and slipping the assembly out. If you support the engine from the front pulley or the rear coupling you run the danger of compressing the crankshaft bearing or the rear transmission bearing, so changing the mounts separately is much safer and easier I found.Dave

That is what I though, however one guy from a Yanmar shop told me that they are all the same stiffness. Then two other guys at Yanmar shops told me that they are different stiffness'. I tried to see the stamp on the sides but cannot see using mirrors, cameras (can't focus that close) etc. Guess I will pull each one, get the number.Hate to order a part, be in the middle of working on it and find I have the wrong parts.I will let you know. Engine Mounts

Greg,If it is of any help, the front mount that I replaced last summer was part no. 124772-08341. It was $109.95 in Rock Hall, MD.I also have read that the mounts are of the same flex, but the parts book shows different numbers front and back.Are you familiar with the Yanmar Help site? Its an independent site from England and is full of questions and sometimes helpful although not many HM35F's are discussed. It is www.yanmarhelp.comAlso www.torresen.com (Torresen Marine) has a Q&A section about Yanmars and some parts info but they cannot sell parts outside there franchise area.Hope this is of some help.Dave

That is the part number that I was given for all 4 of them. I have the Yanmar spec sheet that the mechanic just sent me and it indicates 100's front and rear. I guess the 100 is the stiffness of the mount.Thanks for your help with this one!GregPS - I am getting ready to remove my centrboard cable run this weekend...should be fun. Does your boat have a centerboard?

Centerboard

Our boat is also a centerboard. There have been no indication of leaks so I have never opened the cable tubing in fear of starting a problem. I check the cable connection at the board each year and thats it. Someday I'm sure I will have to replace it so I'm interested in what you find.Dave

Keep you posted on my progress. Like I have said in other posts, I have a slight leak at the base, however worry about the entire system as it looks like it has never been serviced and seems to be a lot of stress put on the sheave housings with all those 90 Degree turns. Rather take it apart now and know what I have while on the hard. One less thing to worry about. Also, unions are very corroded.Will let you know how it goes and what I find.Greg
