engine identification

Just bought an '84 Cat 30. Can anyone tell me how to definitively identify the engine model that I have. I believe it is a Universal Model 25 - 5424, but need a positive ID for parts purchases. I am also interested in obatining a service manual for the engine.Thanks,Doug

Identifying your Universal

On my Universal (M-18, 14h.p.) there is an ID tag stamped on the starboard side of the engine. I can't recall the exact location, but it's up high. On this tag is both the engine model and the serial number. Both are useful when ordering parts.

engine manual
