Hi. Could anyone tell me how to check the engine hours on my boat? I have a 2009 Hunter 50cc with the Yanmar TE i5501/5601 electronic screen. Version 2.07 shows on startup. I have gone through the manual and every key path. Are the engine hours available or should I add an hour meter? Thanks.

Hours should be read in the tach face. We have a 2006 and the hour meter died about 5 years ago. A very common problem with Yanmar. If it is not then you will need to install an hour meter. Check the Hunter Owners Forum on this. Very common.

My boat doesn't have a separate tachometer. It has a Maetron Display with LCD screen from Yanmar. It can be programmed to view tach, oil pressure, water temp and fuel tank levels. It is all on NEMA 2000. I just cannot find how to view the engine hours or even if they are tracked on the system. I wish it had a manual tachometer and hour meter. Going to add at least an hour meter if I can't locate it on the system.

Hook up the Maretron to your plotter. You should be doing this anyway, as the Maretron display is useless.
It will show you all your engine data, and you will love the result.
When I’m motoring, I run a split screen on my plotter, with chart vs engine.
That way I can watch my oil pressure & temp. Also nice to have tach & fuel
It you want info on how to do this, pm me.
Good luck!

Just add an analog hour meter at the key switch, they are rather inexpensive. I like gauges I can glance at and not having to look for them.

This is going in the wrong direction.
He’s already got a N2K plotter at the helm, and the engine interface has N2K data.
Instead of installing a new guage, he has ALL his data right in front of him, and below at the nav station.
no holes to drill, probably cheaper, and a full featured solution.
I have never taken the cover off my Maretron since doing this. Don’t even know, or care, if it works..

I agree with Art. Connect the Maretron to your MFD. Simple and cheap. I took his advice on my 49 and couldn't be happier.

how do I connect the maretron to chartplotter? my maretron fuel guage has just stopped working and reading empty!
The fuel gauge is a totally separate entity
The tank has a resistive sensor which goes into one of the maretron plugs. If your display is reading empty, then I suspect the wire is broken, likely on top of the tank
With regards to connecting your maretron to your plotter, it’s all N2K plugs & cabling.
Very straight forward job.

Connecting Maretron to chartplotter is great idea. I did it even before I knew Art! The hours however are definitely available on the Maretron display. Go to their website and download the manual. It will show you how to scroll through screens and display what you want.

So, there was “life before Art”??

Your boat has a fiberglass arch versus the stainless arch.
