I'm going to replace all the hoses on my '87 M-25. Does anyone know the cost? Is the auto parts store the best place to get replacements? Thanks Richard

M-25 Engine Hoses

I replaced all the hoses on my M-25 (including hot water heater hoses) last year. There was only one hose that I had to buy premade (it was on the front of the engine-near the alternator and it had about a 90% bend). I bought this hose at a auto parts store. All the other hoses I replaced with a good grade of applicable Marine hose that I purchased at a local marine store. I did all the work myself. As far as I can remember it did not cost me more than $150. I may even be slightly high on this Figure. It was fairly easy but time consuming. I only took a couple hoses off at a time so as not to hook things up to the wrong places. My only real advice would be to drain the engine coolant in a controlled manner or you will have a real mess to clean up later. You also have to purge the system of air, it took me three tries to do this (use the bleeder valve on the top of the thermostat cover). Good Luck, I believe this kind of project really theaches you about the basic systems of your boat!
