Engine grunt

All of a sudden my 18 Yanmar began shaking and grinding when I put the throttle up to the usual startup. I backed off, ramped up more slowly, and it was okay. In reverse, however, I almost choked the engine. I put perhaps a half a quart of oil in, but get this: Two big, rusty nuts were sitting in the engine bilge, toward the front. They're not from the motor mounts, and they're not from anything I can trace. Eh?

when did you put the oil in

before or after it started acting up, as for the nut,s they sound like motor mount nuts or keelbolt nuts. Did you look at the rear mounts? When I bought my hunter 34 on of the nuts were loose on one of the rear mounts. and you might want to look at the coupler on the trans, maybey something in that area. Tim Welsh H34 AKA Cabo Wabo
