Any tricks on relacing the fuel filter aft of the raw water through hull and the one on the engine? I am a beginner. Has anyone installed the filter you can visual check and where. Bill

Just did it

I had to open the vent screw on the top of the filter to break the vacumn on the bowl. It took a lot of torque to unscrew the bowl but the nut on the bottom of the bowl fits a standard wrench (but I can't remember the size, 1/2 to 5/8). If you want, & I recommend that you do, take the center aft panel out (aft of the berth) and you will have access to the tank. There is a shut-off valve on the tank-allows you to shut off the flow while changing filters. Be sure to reprime good.

catching drips

Andy's advice is good. Take a plastic bottle (I used liquid Tida) and cut the bottom off so you have a shallow drip pan. Make it so high enough so it just slips under the filter housing with a little twisting. Now when you take apart the assembly, the fuel inside will get caught in the pan and not end up in your bilge. You can leave the pan in place all the time - If you made it high enough - it will stay in place always ready. Bill Murray "Good Faith"

I agree Bill

Great minds think alike (at least on 29.5s). You can also make a small drip tray for the stuffing box. An old antifreeze jug works good for that.
