w d shock santana 21 columbia
I'm fairly new to sailing and i recently traded my old truck for a 21 foot santana sailboat, obviously i'm in need of a little adivice. First i was wandering what size motor(minium-maxium) i would need to push it on the river, the current is between 5-8 knots on average. Second i was wandering what the piece was called that attaches the boom to the mast, it seems to be missing on my mast. for now thats it,thanks.

Columbia Where? 25 hp to go up river. and gooseneck. A 21 foot sail boat will only go about 5 knots. As a result you can leave home but "you can't go home again."

Look around you, what are other boats doing for power?? I would think a 6-10hp engine would move you around in a 21' Sanatana. That current estimate may need checking too.

A gooseneck is the gadget that connects the boom to the mast.
