I recently purchased a 41s5 that had an engine driven refrigeration system, but the compressor had been removed. An auto mechanic told me the fittings for the hoses that run to where the compressor used to be were for a York compressor. The engine spins clockwise and the compressor was mounted facing the stern (i.e. the compressor would have rotated couterclockwise). I have all the rest of the refrigeration system in place and realize I will need to replace the drier since the system was left open. How can I find out what compressors will work (i.e. spin counter clockwise and provide the needed level of work ? Thanks,

York Compressor

That compressor is a model R-210. Add either an L or R at the end of the model number to designate right or left handed suction line. You can usually find these compressors at an auto supply store.

York compressor

The york compressor you can use also comes in a 206. The 210 is a 10 cu.in. the 206 is a 6 cu. in. The smaller 206 is more than adequate for a refrigeration application and will the solve the problem of over capacity inherent in some engine driven applications. Available at www.rparts.com.
