Many of us who own 350's numbered between 1 and 201 have received our Engineering Bulletin 69 kit from Catalina which includes a device to prevent sea water from causing engine damage. Although detailed instructions are included, I'm not sure anyone but an engineer or a skilled boat mechanic should take this on. This poses special challenges for those of us who are are not fortunate enough to live near a boatyard capable of doing such a project. Wondered what others out there are doing to address this issue. Waiting for the boatshow lull

My kit - a rather intimidating 1+ cubic foot box of parts - is sitting in my office waiting for the lull after the Seattle Boat Show in order to discuss with various folks the schedule and cost to accommodate the work required. I also have the original "pss high speed shaft" upgrade to be installed. Frankly, I feel more comfortable installing the latest kit (the vacuum breaker plumbing) than I do the original upgrade kit - which involves moving the shaft and possibly allowing water into the boat. Anyway, it's on the spring list of things to do - right after I go sailing....... Tim Brogan April IV C350 #68 Seattle

I agree with Bill that the second "important" retrofit should be handled by Catalina,a dealer or other Catalina assigned contractor. I messed up on the first engine retrofit when I broke a set screw in the flange and still do not have it fixed. I also think that $165. does not cut it. I know that I have to haul my boat to fix the situation. Hans Grasman Belcourt #165
