Can anyone point me to where I might obtain a 1981 Atomic 4 cluth cable for a C30. Or a suitable replacement set of controls. Thanks

Bud, Most likely all of your controls (cables, handles, etc.) came from Edson Marine. They are great people to work with. They will probably tell you to take out the old cable to measure it for an exact replacement. Remember to pull through a messenger line!

Bud, My 79 C30 with A4 has controls made by Morris. These are mounted on the bulkhead close to the floor. To my knowledge there is no direct replacement for them. I tried to buy new ones last year and could find none one who makes a replacement. I found a used set online (mine were completely worn out) from a guy in TX who had salvaged them off a C34. They worked great. As far as the shifter cable goes that was also made by morris who has sold their line to teleflex who also know longer makes that cable. I had mine specially made for around $100. I took it to San Diego Marine exchange and they know a company in Long Beach that can fabricate them. They did a great job and mine works perfectly. San Diego Marine exchange has a web site. You can find their number there and call them to inquire if this is what you need. Hope that helps. Good Luck, Paul

Economical Fix

Bud I replaced both the transmission and throttle cables on my '80 Cat 30. Like you I had difficulties finding a match. No marine dealers I talked to could tell me what I needed for replacement cables. The cable numbers could not be cross referenced with existing cable manufacturers. I removed both cables and took them to a truck supply company. The company was Inland Truck Parts Company in Tulsa, OK which operate in many parts of the US. They made me replacement cables the same type specifications as the best quality from west marine. The cost was less than 1/2 the west marine cost, and I had the replacement cables within two hours, the fit was perfect. West marine had a 1 month delivery time and would not guarantee fit. If you don't have a ITP supply house I am sure that other supply houses for large trucks in your area have the same capibilities. Good Luck Bob
