Engine control lever

I'm in the final stages of moving up to a Passage 42(1992) from a 37. I've read all of the owner reviews and this boat has most of the complaints dealt with ie larger holding tank, new head furling system, in mast furling etc. Has anyone changed the two lever engine control system to a single lever control. Edson has a new control lever which mounts in the side of the pedestal but they say it won't work with this boat. Anyone used a different make of control lever or different Edson style. Also do these vessels typically sit low in the stern such that the bootstripe is submerged at the aft end and well out of the water at the bow.Rick

P-42 contol lever

No thoughts on the single engine control lever, but our Passage42 does sit low in the stern and high in the bow. Typically, we don't fill the bow water tank that often except when voyaging. I think the weight of the port side water tank also imparts a heel to port of a few degrees.

Single Control Lever

Rick, I own a 95 Hunter 43 and it came with a single control lever from the factory. It is equipped with a Morse Marine Products MV-2 control lever. Their number is 216-653-7701.. Hope this helps...

No and Yes

The new control lever will not work on the P42. So just get used to shifting. Whenever I am docking ours, I always take another look to see which way is forward and which is reverse. It was just the opposite on our 37.Unless the forward water tank is filled, the ship will sit bow up. Fill the tank and add some clorox. All that weight will make it level.When the port tank is full, the ship leans to the left a little. We always start our water use from the port tank. The ship levels out pretty quickly.
