I would like to know if it is unusual to not have some form of venting for the engine compartment. I have just purchased a 1985 Hunter 28.5 and I notice there is no such vent; the engine is surrounded by sound deadening material and the only chance for the heat and fumes to escape is through cracks where the "woodwork" does not fit tightly.
How is the engine expected to get fresh air and I expect that if the air in the engine compartment is not vented, the fumes just end up in the cabin.
