Engine Compartment Blower

I have been following the previous thread about whether to use a blower or not.

One post mentioned that the blower went on when the engine was on. Could someone suggest a way to do the electrical connections to make this happen?

Your blower is probably switched near the control panel. Replace the switch with a relay connected to the positive side of the engine switch.
The new Beneteaus are switched that way and are "always on" when the engine is running.

If you have a keyed ignition switch, most likely there is a Aux terminal which turn on the panel.

Just like the car, you turn the key to turn on the electrical and then a spring loaded turn to crank the starter. The blower is only one or two Amps. There is really no need for a relay.

I always leave the key in Aux for a few minutes after shutting down the engine to cool down the area. Put your hand at the air exhaust and you'll feel how hot it is.

Blower: On

On our Universal diesel panel, the Blower switch is energized even when the on/off key switch is off.
We run the blower any time the engine is running. This pulls heat out of the engine compartment, which benefits the alternator and the engine as well.

Per an experienced mechanic that teaches small diesel courses, about 3 to 5% of the waste heat from these little engines is calculated to be exchanged directly to the surrounding air by direct radiation. (Another reason not to let a layer of dirt or gunk build up on the outside of the engine, as well.)

i have another question. It seams the recommendation was for an intake blower and an exhaust blower. If thats the case and you have a pretty tight engine compartment then were does the engine get air from?
