Has any one tried to get the 30% federal rebate for installing solar and/or wind charging systems aboard their boat?
From what I've read, any residence (as in a full time live aboard w/o a land domicile) can get a 30% rebate on the equipment, structure (as in a cockpit hardtop upon which you've mounted the solar panels) and misc. other expenses involved.

Haven't heard anything about that. Although it sounds like something Levin might know about. Why don't you pursue it and keep us posted with your progress.

Is that solar rebate part of the tax return, or a separate process??? I'd think that if the Feds have granted you tax breaks (mortgage) on the boat as a home, they'd have a hard time turning around and saying it's not. Look at the 2010 tax book, and if there's nothing that says "no", then claim it. I always figure you can try anything at least once, and they'll tell you if it's wrong.

As written, it seems as though it is a cash rebate based on your receipts for equipment & installation expenses.
