I am a new Hunter owner and I need to empty the holding tank.
Would anyone please give me a step by step instruction on how to do this on a 1990 Hunter 27
Not many steps here. You need to move the vessel to a pump out station. Remove the cap for the holding tank (assuming you do not have a porta potti). Put the hose on the deck fitting and start the pump.
Sometimes the pumps need to be primed (put it in the water to star the flow). We usually rinse the tank out with a few gallons of fresh water and then evacuate the remainder of the contents.
Replace the cap and add chemicals for the next pump out. I like Odorlos but there are many other products available.
In addition to what Steve has written be sure that air can get into the tank to replace what you are sucking out, or either you won't get the contents out, or you may collapse the walls of the tank. That means checking that the vent is not blocked.
