Emergency Tiller

I checked my emergency tiller on my Cat 28 and I think I am missing some parts. After I unscrew the cap in the cockpit floor I have a pipe that fits in. There are two holes at the top of the pipe facing toward the sides of the boat. Whats supposed to go into these holes to steet the boat. I only have the one pipe and the tool to open the deck screw. Any ideas? Thanks

A tiller!

You're missing the actual tiller. Replacing it depends - you could get another length of pipe about 4' long or you could buy a "real" teak tiller from West Marine (I just sold one on ebay). The only thing you need to be aware of is the attachment point on the pipe - make sure it fits!LaDonna
