I have a 1984 456cs, only for 2yrs. now, can anyone tell or show the shape of the tiller arm, the base is is under the cockpit steering sole. The stem is pretty easy to figure, just how the top arm is positioned?
Not sure about yours in particular, but the emergency tiller on my 323 is a basic T handle. the upright portion is about 3 feet tall, and the cross is about 18-24 inches . There is a notch in the base of the T to engage a cross rod in the rudder post.
Thanks Doug, The 456 doesnt have much room between wheel and seat back. Only way is to have handle at 90deg. to main wheel, then not much room for movement. I guess I could squeeze in 45deg. fwd. and same aft. Sometimes it takes just a bit harder thinking, to sort out a problem.
Regards Ross.

My emergency tiller is stowed on a shelf in the starboard lazarette. It is longerthan the shelf, so I took a hole saw and bored a hole in the side of the shelf frame. thus the tiller lays flat on the shelf and cannot slide around.
