I have a 1976 Hunter 30 with wheel steering. I want to add an emergancy tiller, however my model with the wrap around cockpit, does not seem to have the ability to have an emergancy tiller. Has anyone retrofitted one?

here is how it is on my 79

On my 1979 30' Hunter, I have a six inch deck plate cut into the seat behind the helm. This is to access the rudder post. Go into your quarter berth and pull yourself back to the rudder post. At the top you should find the post has notches. If this is the case, you will need to cut in a screw-in deck plate with an o-ring. You then need to fabricate piece of pipe to fit the slot with a smaller pipe to screw in for the tiller. Hope this helps. Ian s/v Meant to Be
