Email notifications?

I wouldn't mind an e-mail after I posted to a thread to let me know there are new posts. Just once, until I read it again.

A general summary of the day? No I would opt out of that.

Other forums do this. When you post a new thread or reply, you "subscribe" to that thread. It can be turned off/unsubscribed.

This forum does, too. You can select that in the options below the submit button whenever you post. You can also subscribe to the thread under the Thread Tools menu at the top of the thread.

You could do that. I find I learn a LOT more by reading "Show posts from all forums, all sites". Some stuff, like almost all boat systems like electrical, plumbing, etc., are simply NOT boat-specific.

I use the Recent Posts page. The email notification I do get is usually behind by about a day. But then I evidently have time to waste checking the site often.
