The hole where my mast pin goes through the mast is very elongated, and the mast is quite slopy in the tabernacle. Is there a repair for this?

Lloyd,
Is your mast step similar to this one? I'm wondering how the holes could get elongated unless your rigging is very loose and causing this problem.

Lloyd,
Something is obviously moving to cause that hole to elongate. In my opinion (assuming that your stays are tight) it could be your mast step support. The mast step plate sits on a platform that allows water to move between the forward bilge area and the main bildge area. If this support has become soft due to water absorbsion, to much stress or some other reason; it would allow the mast to move down furthur than it should and the pressure from the roof collar on the pin could elongate the hole. The only other thing that comes to mind are the wedges that hold the mast firmly where it passes thru the cabin roof and the collar. If these are not in place that would allow a lot of movement of the mast where the pin rests on the collar.
I hope this helps.
