electronics grounding plate???

how big of a grounding plate do i need for my electronics two way radios and such.....

A dyna plate is a good idea because the water forms the other half of your antenna, provided it is a quarter wave wip. A good dyna plate looks like it is a sponge made of copper. The air pockets, which are open cell, provides many square feet of surface are from a relativelly small foot print area. Even the smallest dyna plate they make would provide an improvement in radiation efficiency.

Depends on what you have. VHF and GPS? Engine ground is just fine.

You only need one if you have a marine or ham SSB radio system. VHF has its own ground plane and instruments don't need a radio freq ground plane just a common ground (engine buss) to keep the electrical noise down.

You will get a gain with a good dyna plate when compared to a 1/4 wave whip operating with an isolated ground or engine. Whether it is needed or not is another matter.

thanks for the inpu...i am going with the dyna plate #4006 i found one on e bay for $30.00 and shipping ...i may as well put in on now as later......it will be for grounding reasons only and not for lighting as i have read that they will explode with lighting...i will get a slick channeled plate for that .........
