Just would like to get some opinions on some of the navigation software. What do you think of the BSB charts. What is prefered by most Fugawi Marine ENC or Maptech Offshore. What else are people using? Sorry if this has been beaten to death in the past, I'm a new joiner.

Fugawi

I only have Fugawi so can't really compare the two but I believe Fugawi is cheaper than most of the others out there and I find it to be excellent. It runs on my PDA as well as the PC. The only thing that seems to be missing with Fugawi is tides and current which some of the others have built in. But I found I can get other software very cheaply that gives this information, like CTIDE.

Unfortunately I haven't used Fugawi or Captain's for comparison, but I have been very happy with Nobeltec's Visual Navigation Suite. I really like the layering ability and flexibility with the data. The bathymetric 3D charts are great fun, but basic routing is very useful when used in conjunction with currents data. I use my laptop aboard and eventually would like to get some kind of all-weather screen for use in the cockpit. Trevor
