2 23' Various area lakes
I'm not sure if I am in the correct place or not. I own a 23' 1987 Hunter. When I bought it the running lights did not work. The mast light, cabin lights and Acc. switch all work. When I go into the switch panel, it is a mess. There is one red wire coming over to the running light switch and a white wire coming out. The is also a clear wire attched to the white wire, but it is cut off an inch from the lead. I see two wires on the bow light ( white and black). I see in the wiring diagram that there is a black common wire. does that go to the running lights? Where would I look for it? The running light switch has six leads coming out of it (All the other switches have only two leads). All of the fuses are good. The current configuration has the red power wire coming into a center lead, and the white wire coming out on the other center lead.
Is there anyother wiring diagram that shows more detail than the manual?
Thanks

Probably just me but your description is indiscernible - a wiring diagram would be more descriptive and might also help you trace the wiring better.

Don,
A wiring diagram would be great. The one in my manual is minimal. After more digging around I'm thinking I may have a bad toggle switch in my panel.

The wiring diagram I suggested was one of your own making - that is, it would help you (and us) better visualize what the current wiring looks like and therefore would facilitate helpful suggestions for change(s) if you were to draw out what is currently there.

I'm not suggesting anything fancy - just a basic point to point diagram

The h23 fuse/switch box in my boat has one hot lead coming from the battery. From here, it cascades to all the fuses, so that every fuse is hot, jumped from the fuse next to it. Then, the other end of each fuse is connected to the switch next to it, and finally at the other side of the switch, the power goes to wherever it is needed. So, for 5 wires on the running light switch: left, right, stern, compass light, hot (for example)
All the other switches are simply hot in, load out.
