UncleDom I think you are on to something
This is a subject that I really wanted to dive into to figure out the best for anti corro
if done now at the beggining of a project and done right I figure that the headaches removed for down the road would be PRICELESS
So......Talked to a fellow I met a couple of years ago who is head of maint for a buss company.. This climate we live in has so much salt applied to everything sure right now my stuff has more salt crystal clinging to it than any boat parked anywhere
And asked him what they do??? Short answer is on the bodies as I do I apply zincs underneath at the rear next is apply GB to battery terms and all elect major apps
Looked it up and have a tube of Gardner Bender OX-400 OX-Gard
Apparently this stuff is the Cats ass for corrosion protect of elec terms without interfering with conductivity
One comment made was about applying goop to wires before crimping Well last year at the Miami show I took a trip over to Sailing Services one of South Floridas premire rigging companies and chatted for a while with the fellow in the shop that was swaging rigging lines at the time Before he made his swages he put on a thick coat of silicone on the cable and made sure it was spread all over As it was swaged you could see the excess come out of the fitting and he wiped of the excess for no trace They have been doing this a long time and their work has a good rep
Just sayin dont know if ya need to put stuff inside crimp terms because the heat shrink fitting should do
So Im going to start with Ox-gard and give it the test
