I need to replace the electrical panel on my Hunter 23.5. I looked up my nearest Hunter dealer and it led me to an RV and sailboat place. Seems he'll have to order it. Isn't there a more direct place to go to in order to get the proper panel?? I was given a replacement panel by the previous owner, but the guage of wiring of different circuits varies on the 23.5 ,while all the wiring on the panel is the same...doesn't seem right to me?? I'm no electrician..just thought I could swap it out one for one?? Help!!

Try looking at Blue Seas panels

They come in all different sizes and are more robust than the oem panel.

It is a big job to replace a panel

Unless you are looking for a cosmetic upgrade the old panel should be refurbishable. All the CBs are standard size and the busses never wear out. If you need more circuits then blue sea is the way to go but understand that there will be no instructions with the new panel and you will have to become at least a journeyman electrician to finish the job. By journeyman I mean understand + and -, wire sizing, CB sizing, and bonding.

Why do you need to replace it?

Not enough circuit breakers? Corrosion? or?? IF the reason for replacing it is because there aren't enough circuit breaker slots then one solution could be to add a sub panel. And, if so, then another suggestion would be to put the sub panel near the batteries, but in such a maner that it meets code with regard to consideration for spark and hydrogen gas. The subpannel could have motor load circuits such as water pump, autohelm, refrigeration (if you have it), or something else which would enable a wire run to be shortened.

Paneltronics made electrical panels for Hunter...

models over the years. I've had good luck with them in the past when I needed replacement parts. See link below. Terry
