So if any of you recall, my last thread on my electrical situation was a headbanger. Come to find out, Beneteau USA did that tape thing.... thanks guys. Anyway... I have now completed my 12v DC upgrade. I did not rip out and rerun wire due to how it was installed. PITA factor 15. I do now have new wire for the steaming light and for the battery cable runs. New 8 breaker panel from Blue Sea Systems, Model 8358, Victron battery monitor, new Group 27 battery, and a 30 amp fuse on the mains. Yes, I know I really didn't need to go 4AWG for the battery runs, the 8AWG existing had no drop to the panel but, I figured if I am going to do this, I am going to follow the specifications correctly. Some new wire here and there.

Existing panel with the awesome wiring. One of the negative connections was done by striping a small amount of insulation mid-wire and twisting on the end of another. Then of course, tape..... tape the hell out of it.

Back and front of new installation. Label it all.

Battery mains, 30 amp fuse, and Victron shunt. The other web wire is the "lightning protection", supposed to run to the keel but, that disappeared long before the boat was mine.

Next up is the wire up of the 120v AC panel, an outlet, battery charger, and shore power connection. Also, installed my new i50/i60 instrumentation, those will be calibrated (speed & wind) on Friday morning. Feels good to finally having this stuff I bought over a year ago installed and working on the boat. Enough work though, I am sailing Friday and Saturday. Maybe Sunday too. Though Sunday, I may get on the 120v stuff....

I just completed the 120v side on my boat last month.
The sense of accomplishment is almost orgasmic!
