I took delivery of a 2013 Oceanis 41 last fall and have had a number of problems with the boat. The auto pilot didn't work for the first few months; the starter battery refused to charge and died; the cabinet latches keep braking; and when the swimming platform is lowered it rubs against the transom leaving a hole in the gel coat. The most recent problem is with the navigation instruments. The Simrad monitor and all other instruments (speed, wind, depth, etc.) randomly switch on and off. At first I thought one of my children had switched off the nav. switch on the panel below, but that wasn't the case. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how was it corrected?

A low battery might contribute to the instrument shutdown issue, and could also impact the autopilot. If the batteries were not charging, it is possible that the battery may have been defective when new.
As far as the tailgate is concerned, the manufacturer should probably have caught that. if not the manufacturer, then the selling dealer should have checked and adjusted it as part of the commissioning.

I feel for you, I have had my share of issues with a 2013 B41 as well. Assuming your house battery status is good, it seems as if you may have a faulty circuit to the Simrad NSS12 plotter. I'd check connections to the plotter itself (4 screws to remove from the table pedestal) and disconnect, reconnect the plotter. Also, there is a tap connection to a 12V line that feeds the plotter. It's located in the aft starboard cabin, halfway in the ceiling., you need to remove the ceiling panel that is against the center wall. Same issue on my boat with cabinetry doors falling down... they either use screws that were too small to attach the latches or they drilled the holes too big. The easy fix was to replace all cabinetry door screws with the next larger size but is that our job, us owners on a brand new boat? This is one is definitely a red flag on Beneteau quality control (and I am french....). I also see and issue with the transom which once unfolded rubs against the hull near the hinges. A Beneteau tech is supposed to stop by in the next few days to see if this can be adjusted.'

Thanks for the comments. The house and starter battery are good (the dealer replaced the starter battery), so I'll check the connections. It just seems that on this boat that as soon as one thing gets fixed, something else pops up.
I'm having issues with my B41 as well. Depth meter, wind display turn on but are not showing anything. I've developed a short in the control panel and my VDO display monitor is out. Got the use of bow thruster an windlass back easily enough by unplugging the control panel and replacing the fuse at the engine battery switch. I heard from the dealer that something similar had happened to the first B41 they tried to sell and they managed to blame it on lightning. Beneteau is telling me my problems are also a EMF or power surge, however I've got a surveyor thinking it was started from the battery charger. He's comparing it to another similar case he has in New Orleans. I'll have more info later.
I had an issue with the autopilot during the sea trial - turned out the controller was mounted too close to other electronics and was moved 6 inches away to eliminate interference.
I have noticed that if the batteries are low after a few nights at anchor the instruments would come on and off while the windlass was working - interesting this happened with the forward windlass control but not if I used the cockpit chain counter.
Otherwise no real issues with my 41 although the Sailvac is acting up. I will create a separate post on that issue.

With all the electrical connection issues I would suggest you get some Deoxit and spray any electrical connection you touch. I do this rigorously on my RV, Boat, Ham Radio Gear, and so on, really eliminates a lot of the annoying issues. Can be found at Radio Shack and on line. Best of luck.

I had an issue with the nss12 shutting down and rebooting randomly. This was diagnosed by simrad and the dealer as a common problem related to quality issues with the 2.5 simrad software and with voltage fluctuations the way the nss is wired from the factory.
We made both changes and the problems disappeared for us:
1) flashed the nss with a beta 3.0 build. This stopped the lookups and crashes for us. You could also install an older 2.0 build, but I have the go free router.
2) cut the yellow wire from the nss that is hard wired to positive from the factory. This makes the power button on the nss functional again, but also required to turn on/off the chart plotter. Which I like. Apparently any voltage fluctuations would tell that yellow wire it was time to shut off the nss. This by itself did not resolve all the crashes but allowed me to easily turn on/off the system, also allows me to have depth meter or ais on without the plotter on.
Hopefully this helps. Simrad is supposed to have good service, and if you need those fixes they should be able to enable that easily.
