I have a Beneteau 31. The electrical connections from the mast that connect on the cabinroof look to be sealed with some sort of putty. The putty looks dried and cracked. Any suggestions on what I use to replace/re-putty it? See photo for what I'm talking about. Thanks.

Not sure what it is. Maybe plumbers putty? There should be a tapered grommet for that fitting that will seal out moisture as you tighten the ring.

well is sure is not electrical dialectic grease that you use inside the connection. Did not even see a plug BTW. Life caulk should suffice.
or you could take apart the gland (I believe that is what it is called) and put a new O-ring in it. Real PITA to pull the cable though.

it has to be something a PO used in an attempt to keep the water out.. remove the mess and make your repair, then fill it with dielectric/silicone grease, which is waterproof and does not dry out. it will remain corrosion free forever..

There is a putty that electricians use when running a cable from outside to inside a house, so it should be exterior rated. Hardware stores should have it.
