I'm surprised that there are not more out there. Especially someone who just needs to motor out of the marina to sailing waters (like me). I just use my motor a few minutes per month. Would be interested in hearing your thoughts. My thoughts: 4-6, 6 volt batteries and elec. motor are much lighter than a diesel 5 to 10 miles between charges depending on speed (I'm told) No odor or noise Less maintenance Portable generators are now much lighter and inexpensive (for charging) What do you think?

I know a number of people the use a trolling motor to power their sailboats (a few 25'ers). I thought about it myself, and even have thought about designing an electric saildrive. Has anyone seen one done with an electric inboard or saildrive?

One question you need to ask .......
Do you sail in fresh water only? Battery acid reacts with seawater to release Chorine gas.
