Does anyone know the proper pressure an electric fuel pump should have? Right now there is a Facet pump with very small lettering on it that says 574A. I was thinking of using a Walbro pump but don't know what PSI to buy.

Whats the application?

Please describe what you are trying to do? whats the fuel?, etc. Transfer pump? volumetric flow rate is more important than pressure. Recirculation pump? volumetric flow rate AT the desired changeout pressure ACROSS the filter set. (pump curve needed) Bleed pump? just a few psi Lift pump to injector pump? static height (few psi) at the max. fuel consumption flow rate of the engine (1-2 gpm). Charging the fuel rail of the fuel injectors of a race car ... about 60-80 psi at 2 to 3X fuel consumption at WOT. etc.

Sorry for the confusion

After making my original post, which was too model and brand specific I tried to keep it on this site. Anyway its the diesel supply pump on my 1986 31 foot sailboat. The existing Facet pump only says 574A on it. Since its almost 20 yrs old I thought I'd have a backup on hand.

Re: Eletric Fuel Pump

A fuel supply pump for a diesel engine only needs a couple of pounds of fuel pressure. The fuel pressure at the injectors is about 2000psi but that pressure comes from the injection pump not the supply pump.

Fuel Pump

Almost any diesel fuel pump will do. Just match the inlet and outlet hose sizes and you'll be fine. Go to www.c34.org, then Forum/Message Board and search on fuel pump. I'd do it for you, but it's so much more fun when you can do it yourself. We've been there, and the newer pumps are electronic, not mechanical, and both will do. Stu

Use a NAPA 6010-1051 or 6010-1011. One is the exact match the other is cheaper but will work fine.

Napa site

I appreciate your help regarding the NAPA part #'s, but their site doesn't recognize them. If you can send me a link I would appreciate it. Thanks

Sorry its 610-1011 or 610-1051. There is good information on the Catalina 34 site using the search engine by Ron Hill and others.

Do not use the dashes in the part #'s as they will not come up on the www.napaonline.com site.
