Just found out there was a filter/screen in the electric fuel pump. How often should you check this? The pump on this boat is attached to the engine. I will have to remove it so that I can gain access to the bottom of the pump where the filter/screen is located. Can I just clean this or do I have to purchase a new one and replace? Also do I need any new gaskets? Thanks.

Clean it and then check
to see if it's plumbed correctly. Catalina F-Uped and did: tank - pump - Racor, instead of tank - Racor - pump. Make the change and you'll never have to clean the filter again.
