thanks, I've seen this pump before , it looks like a vane style pump. I'm just wandering if when it reaches it's rated pressure will it shut off?

These are 'wobble plate diaphragm' pumps

No pressure switch, these are either ON of OFF but will sit there ON when 'deadheaded' without damage, although deadheading a pump puts a strain on the diaphragm. Almost ALL fuel pumps do not cycle with pressure, they stay ON delivering the pressure/flow .... they do 'slip'/stall so that they dont destroy themselves. Just about all non-positive displacement pumps are capable of this 'slip'. A constant displacment pump would be a gear pump or piston pump.

JC,

It's not posiblie to use an electric pump that is intermitant. The Yanmar requires constant positive pressure to run. DO NOT use an electric pump AFTER the mechanical pump has Failed. If the failure is from a diaphram rip. You WILL pump fuel into the crank case and posibly cause a run away engine or thin your oil enough to cause premature bearing failure. Thanks, Pat! I assume the 10psi pump would work ok for a 3gm30 or similar yanmar?

10psi...

Is a little much. Consider regulating down to around 3-5psi Pat McCartin Inland Marine Diesel Buford, GA imd_ga@hotmail.com

walbro pumps

Thanks, Pat- They only list 10 psi pumps with the diesel screen-I suppose the gas screen pumps at 5 psi would work-the regular filters would catch anything else.
