Just for grins I bought a 12VDC air pump on eBay from China, to see if it will top off my hypalon RIB. Has anyone else tried this? I'll let you know when I get a chance.

It was only $11,.85 shipped, from China.

It seems very nicely made! Sturdy plastic, nice cord, etc.



For those who fold up their inflatables, this also power deflates.

It likely will not get you to the PSI your dinghy requires. You will still need a manual pump and gauge.

BTW, we have a small battery powered shop-vac that we simply reverse when we need to inflate the dink. It allows us to have one device that does double duty.

That one is junk, if it runs at all when you get it, it doesn't put out the pressure or volume to get the job done... BTDT

I also tried this american made pump also $12 e-bay and it did a better job volume wise, but still needs hand pump or foot pump to top off...

After looking and researching, we chose a 120V pump. Works great. While we have an inverter and can blow the dinghy up when away from shorepower, one could blow the dinghy up before you left your dock.

The packaging, at least in the ones I saw at WM, show the pressures and air quantities. Bigger is better in this case.

We've used it a number of times and it sure beats using the foot pump. As I noted on another dinghy topic, you still need the foot pump to finish off the air floor if that's the kind of dinghy you have.

But that said, good luck with your purchase, hope it works for you.
