Tropicool

We bought one of the Tropicool units from the Boat US catalog a week ago. I have always been skeptical of how effective these units could be, but was finally motivated by problems with our built-in refrigeration. The manufacturer claims up to 50 degrees below ambient.Based on one week of experience, I am pleased with the investment. See the attached catalog reference for the 19 quart model. These come in one smaller and two larger sizes.

Igloo KoolMate

I just bought an Igloo Koolmate 50 at West Marine for my Hunter 34. Igloo is backordered on an AC adapter so I bought a 110v to 13.8vdc,10 amp peak (Igloo can draw up to 4.2A) adapter at Radio Shack and I am very happy with results (even after the 3 days of 95+ degree ambient temp). I returned a 6 amp power supply because it was running a bit too hot.The Igloo Koolmate was about $150 and the power supply was about $70.
