I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
I just contacted Edson to buy replacement parts for my steering system. Basically, the snap ring behind the wheel nut broke.

Edson explained that they now use a spiral ring and a washer behind the wheel nut. They then said that they would send me a few and they would have them in the mail to me. *No Charge!

That is spectacular customer service!

Don't be a cheap-skate, you can get set screws for the throttle handle at any large hardware or building supply store.

Yeah, but it's not a "marine" setscrew....You know those cost 3-4X the hdwr store variety... ;)

Sorry to disagree with JVB but I just spent the last weekend at everything in my area looking for a 1/4 x 28 screw in stainless. not to be found. I needed to replace one of mine and the closest I could find was a socket head screw and not the best of stainless. West Marine nor hardware had one. Stick with Edson.

Very clever customer service; give away small replacemnts and tack the cost to the other parts and units being sold. Nothing is free.

Yes....it is a customer service conspiracy. Come on, some of the companies stand behind their products. They are few and far between and we should recognize them when they do. If a company offers me good customer service and a fair price they create a loyal customer.

I have had excellent dealings with Edson and Profurl. I have had HORRIBLE customer service from Raymarine. How that plays out is pretty obvious to me.

yay Edson

Edson is one of my longtime favorite companies to deal with. Both they and we at Cherubini were relieved when Yacht Specialties gave up the ghost which meant we would be buying steering gear from Edson from then on. Hank Keene (rep there) is an ace who would do anything for you and is a limitless font of valuable information and good vibes.
