On my 1986 P36-2, I have an Edson wheel. The throttle is on the starboard side with the shifter towards the stern. My throttle seems alittle tight. What type of maintenance should I do to this. I checked the main steering cable from down below and it feels in good shape....Does the shifter and throttle mechanism need lubrication inside the pedistal? Thanks Greg

Greg, I helped by friend replace his throttle cable last year on a 30 Catalina and we removed it and brought it to a marine store and matched it up. Freeport Marine supply had a very large selection in stock

If your...

reverse is "down" and forward is "up" on the shift lever and your decal is worn out, missing , or unreadable, send me an address to <marcjudy@bellsouth.net> and I'll send you a new decal. I had some made and have a ton of extras.

Are these decals that go on the pedistal? My shift lever is mounted aft of the post and reverse is down and foward is up but I don't have any decals

yes, they are usually below the binnacle and just above or next to the shift lever. Most autopilot installations obscure or cover up the decal. It's just a convienent reminder for us older folks who have had several boats with different shift patterns. E-mail me and I'll send you some out.
