Hello All:

I have purchased an Edson Power Lever p/n Z2288 from Catalina Direct. I am pretty sure that my pedestal is an Edson, as the holes in the new power lever match the mounting holes in the pedestal. However, the top of the pedestal under the compass seems to be covered by some sort of plate, so there is nowhere for the cables to pass through to the attach points on the power levers.

My questions: Is this plate removable? Is it possible that my pedestal is not really an Edson? If so, is there a way to install the power levers anyway? I spent a lot of money on the power levers, and I would hate to think that it was in vain.

Take some pictures of what you have and what you are trying to install. That would be most helpful because some of us may know how to approach this better with the pictures.

........did you buy the single stainless throttle handle or the twin retrofit throttle control unit from Catalina Direct? If its the single handle its an easy bolt on unit. If its that twin lever unit with housing then its strictly a retrofit unit, which might fit on any pedestal unit. You will need to clarify. You can access the Edson site online and get some good illustrations of the pedestal units or request a catalog. I would think you should be able to remove the plate regardless if its an Edison unit or not to access the cables and shift bearing(s). Any further description would be helpful here.........
