I've got a 1980 Hunter with pedestal steering and it has the handrail / table option. The problem is, I need to reverse the table bracket ( the previous owner installe it backwards ) in order to install the correct table. The rail seems to be "frozen" in place and even after loosening the bottom set screws, it won't come out. Does anybody have any ideas ?

Talk to Edson in New Bedford, or look for their website. They may have suggestions and or drawings that will make it easier. Invariably they figure out a way of attaching things in sixteen places to make sure they don't move, and all you have to do is find and loosen ALL of them.

Squirt with WD40.
Tom: Just give it a healthy squirt of WD-40 and let it sit. You may need to coax it a little with a plastic or rubber mallet.

Top support has to be free
Remove the compass and the bolts holding the engine control section to free up the top pedestal support.That sopport is attached to the guard,I just went thru this very same situation check out edson online they have great show and tell pictures.
