The shifter on my H260's Edison pedestal won't quite throw the attached Yamaha 9hp outboard into reverse. There is no futher fine adjustment available on the engines' shifter so I'm hoping for some amount of coarse adjustment at the shift lever inside the pedestal. looking at it late last night I saw no simple way to access any shifter adjuster if there even is one buried in there. Before I tear it apart does it have an adjuster in there and how hard is it to get to? Thanks, Michael s/v 2004 H260 Liberdade

You can adjust the throw

of the cable by taking off the cover off the pedistal and to lenghen the throw you loosen the lock nut on the shifter cable and decrease the threads that go thru the elongated u bracket. Don't forget you might have to adjust the center position (neutral position) on the motor end. It sounds worse than it is to do. You will have to take the cover off the pedistal, are you sure you don't have any lock nut and/or adjustment on the motor side. That is where I adjust for the neutral position. Pedestal cover removal steps?

I'm sure if I start taking it apart I'll get down to it but maybe theres a simple procedure to "get the cover off" without taking the compass off or disassembling the whole pedestal. Thanks for any time saving dismantling hints. The engine end of the cable has no center adjuster just a fixed clip to hold the cable housing in place so I've got to get in the pedestal. Couldn't find a webite for Edison or an online manual either. Got a lead? Thanks, michael
