Just as Rick mentioned...that the bolts for the stantions are tapped into 1/4" aluminum plates that are encapsulated into the fiberglass. I guess with all the pulling and pushing on those two stantions, that one of the bolts has stripped the aluminum plate. I will just put a washer and nut on the one that is stripped and leave it at that.

Thead repair (Helicol)

You may also try a helicol thread repair. You can buy them at any good hardware or automotive store.This might work better for you.Steve,s/v The Odyssey...
